Your star will arrive flat packed. Simply open the star one point at a time and tie the two cords together to form a perfect star.

The stars are designed to tie over a light source of your choice; either battery-operated fairy lights or a plug in pendant cord, both of which can be purchased separately on our website. Please use battery operated fairy lights only. We do not recommend plug-in fairy lights because of the heat output and potential contact with the star. 

Each star light is handmade using high-quality paper and finished to a superior standard.

The production process is traditional and non-mechanized; each section is printed using time-honored methods. The perforations in the design are hand-punched, the tissue paper is cut and fixed in place by hand, and the star is assembled with geometric skill and accuracy.

The structural design of the lanterns is very clever. Don't be put off by the fact they are made from paper. They are very sturdy and the weighted paper is perfectly cut, pasted, and constructed. 

Each star is carefully checked before being packaged. Please remember that these are handmade items and as such small inconsistencies in shade and design may be apparent. We like to think of them as unique!

That depends on the design. As a rule, the lighter the color of the paper, the brighter the light, e.g. white and ivory would give out more light than, say red or violet. Then you need to consider whether you select a design with tissue inserts or punched-out perforations. The perforations create a bright twinkly effect, and would give out more light than the tissue inserts. Starry White, Venus White, North Star White and Prosecco - (white paper, perforations) will give out the most light.

It is important to ensure that the wattage of the light bulb does not exceed 40 watts – LED lamps between 1.5 to 5.5 watts are recommended. As they are made of paper, star lights should not be used with candles and should be kept away from naked flames.

Our stars are hand-produced in small batches, typically reducing waste and energy consumption compared with mass production. This model limits overproduction and tightens quality control making the process more sustainable.

Vegetable dyes are considered more eco-friendly because they are derived from natural sources, are biodegradable and produce fewer harmful chemicals compared with synthetic dyes.

Our star lanterns are made from responsibly sourced paper, reducing the impact on ecosystems.

We strive to use recyclable packaging wherever possible and would encourage our customers to keep any packaging for future use.

Paper Star Lights are designed to last and if treated with TLC can be used again and again!
